Here is some more information taken from the AdSense Roadshow event relating to image and video ads.

  • Rich media ads – images, videos etc.
  • Usually work on CPM basis
  • There is an increasing ad spend and audience for this type of ad
  • Less sites run video and image ads – therefore if we use them there will be a higher chance of advertisers choosing our sites to target
  • 300×250 format of video ad is the most common and profitable
  • Make your site more attractive to advertisers
    • Desirable ad placements – above the fold
    • Placement targeting (e.g. homepage & top right) – guarantee where ad will show
  • To set up ad placement:
    • Channel > add channel > tick targeting check box
  • View advanced reports to see if advertisers are targeting your site – CPM
  • CPC and CPM ads will compete to show in your site – whatever will make you the most money will show
